Coagulation and Liquefaction of Semen

After ejaculation – the human semen coagulates immediately forming globules. This is called as seminal coagulum. Coagulum normally liquefies again within five to twenty minutes. Researches have found that “seminin” is responsible for liquefaction of human seminal coagulum (http://www.andrologyjournal.org/cgi/reprint/1/6/281.pdf) .

Formation of seminal coagulum helps to keep the semen in vagina while liquefaction of semen coagulum helps the sperms to move towards egg or ovum.
